Phlebotomy (C45600) Certificate
(NOT ELIGIBLE FOR TITLE IV FINANCIAL AID FUNDS)
The Phlebotomy curriculum prepares individuals to obtain blood and other specimens for
the purpose of laboratory analysis.
Course work includes proper specimen collection and handling, communication skills,
and maintaining patient data.
Graduates may qualify for employment in hospitals, clinics, physicians’ offices, and other
health care settings and may be eligible for national certification as phlebotomy technicians.
The Phlebotomy program at RCC is NAACLS approved.
Eligible applicants are admitted on a space available basis to the program in the fall
semester, provided they have met both general and program admission requirements.
Applicants who are interested in the program must obtain a Phlebotomy Admission
Information packet from the Student Development Office. Once a student has completed
all requirements noted on the check sheet, he/she may submit the Review Form and
required documentation to the Student Development Office.
There are two review period deadlines – October 1 for the first review period and
February 1 for the final review. Incomplete Review Forms or forms submitted after these
deadlines will not be considered. Applicants who are reviewed and are found ineligible for
consideration for the current year’s class must submit a new Review Form and required
documentation for the next year’s class.
