                  Human Resources Development Program

The Human Resources Development Program (HRD) staff works with people who need jobs and assists them to become the employees so valued in today’s marketplace.

The challenge of finding good employees is very real as is the challenge of finding the right job. This program assists adults with employment direction, job search skills and job placement. It assists employers by sending them qualified applicants.

HRD is available at no charge to all adults and is located on every Community College campus in North Carolina.

HRD participants include:

  • Unemployment Recipients
  • Laid Off/Dislocated Workers
  • AFDC/Food Stamp Recipients
  • High School Dropouts
  • People Returning to the Workforce
  • First Job Seekers
  • People Wanting to Make a Job Change

Topics in the Program Include:

  • Job Readiness and Interpersonal Skills
  • Group Effectiveness
  • Motivation
  • Problem Solving and Gobal Setting
  • Listening and Oral Communication Skills

More than 36,000 HRD graduates have gained employment over the life of the program. A yearly average of:

  • 3,000 HRD graduates received job placement
  • 2,500 HRD graduates were placed into skills training
  • $11,600,000 in increased income for HRD graduates
  • $180,000 in reduced public assistance for HRD graduates

This is a 200% return on state investment!
