Associate in Applied Science

The Information Technology (IT) curriculum prepares graduates for employment in the technology sector as designers, testers, support technicians, system administrators, developers, or programmers who use computer software and/or hardware to design, process, implement and manage information systems in specialties such as database services, security, business intelligence, healthcare informatics and others depending on the technical path selected within this curriculum.

Employment Competencies

Upon successful completion, graduates will be able to:

  • Install and configure the most current computer operating systems.
  • Analyze business technology needs and propose a solution.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues according to industry standards.
  • Leverage virtualization to implement technology solutions.
  • Design, implement, and secure a computer network.
  • Design, manage, and market a website.

Employment Outlook

Employment of computer and information technology managers is projected to grow 10% from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations. Demand will grow as firms increasingly expand their business to digital platforms.

General Education Outcomes
