ANT 210: General Anthropology  3-0-3

Course Description:

This course introduces the physical, archaeological, linguistic, and ethnological fields of anthropology. Topics include human origins, genetic variations, archaeology, linguistics, primatology, and contemporary cultures. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the four major fields of anthropology. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in social/behavioral sciences.

Course Objectives:The primary objective of this course is to introduce students to the science of anthropology including its major subfields, theories, methods, techniques of description and analysis, terms, concepts, and findings. A second objective of this course is to apply these methods, techniques, terms, etc. to the comparative analysis of cultures throughout the world focusing especially on their language, art, food-getting, major institutions, and patterns of cultural change.
