What is the QEP?
The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is an important and required component of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) re-accreditation process. It describes an in-depth, focused five-year plan that RCC will develop with broad-based community support to significantly enhance student learning on the RCC campus. As such, unlike much of the work associated with accreditation, the QEP looks to the future. The selection of the QEP topic is one of the more important decisions we will be making this year. Your participation is critical to the success of the QEP. In order to develop the right plan for RCC’s future, we need contributions/ideas to improve student learning from faculty, staff, students, alumni and members of the community.
SACS recognizes that student learning is at the heart of the mission of all institutions of higher learning. The QEP is an opportunity and an impetus for an institution to enhance overall institutional quality and effectiveness by focusing on an issue or issues the institution considers important to improving student learning. The plan launches a process that can move the institution into the future characterized by creative, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences for students (SACS Handbook,21).
