RCC is Offering a New Cabinet Making Course
Beginning Feb. 5, Introduction to Cabinet Making will be offered through the Continuing Education Division at Rockingham Community College. Students will learn about project layout, cut sheets, milling lumber, case and door construction, hardware, and hand rubbed finishes.
Experience is not necessary. Novices as well as more experienced woodworkers will benefit from the course.
Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. in the new RCC Center for Creative Woodworking at 333 S. Scales St. in downtown Reidsville. Classes end March 4.
Instructor Jay Speetjens, owner of J. Speetjens Inc., is well known for his custom and gallery woodworking. He is a member of the Piedmont Craftsman Guild, The Furniture Society, and Piedmont Japanese Carpentry Club. He has received numerous awards and honorable mentions for his work.
