Wednesday, February 20: Social Media Workshops hosted by the Student Success Center, 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., James Library, room 201. Learn helpful tips and ways to use social media to your advantage when it comes to your career. Door prizes!
Friday, February 22: Contact Donata Worrell by this date to register for the Public Speaking Contest to be held March 12, 6:30 p.m., Whitcomb Student Center, upper lounge. You are eligible to enter the contest if: you took public speaking (COM 231) in 2012 - spring, summer or fall semester; scored 85 or higher on the persuasive speech; will present an updated persuasive speech from class. Prizes are as follows: first place, $100; second place, $75; third place, $50.
Friday, February 22 is also the last date to sign up for the April 4-7 trip to Washington, DC. Students will tour most of the capital's significants sites: the White House, Capitol Building, National Mall and all of its historical memorials, Smithsonian Museums, National Gallery and more. Participants will be staying in a hostel a few blocks from the Mall. Housing and admission costs will be covered through a deposit and generous grants from the RCC Foundation. Monday, February 25: Recruiter Veronica Ford from North Carolina A&T State University will be on campus from 12-2 p.m. in Whitcomb Student Center, lower level, near Subway.
Tuesday, February 26: Recruiter Mandy Smith from Gardner-Webb University will be on campus from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in Whitcomb Student Center, lower level, near Subway.
Friday, March 1: This is the date the Application for RCC Foundation scholarships is due in the Financial Aid Office. RCC is now using one scholarship application for all of our scholarships provided through the RCC Foundation. The 2013-2014 application is available and can be found at www.rockinghamcc.edu/pages/finacial_aid.php or you may pick up an application in the Financial Aid Office located in Whitcomb Student Center.
