The Rockingham Community College Center for Active
Retirement (C.A.R.) provides opportunities for Rockingham
County's older adults to enhance their qualify of life.
The facility is conveniently located on the Rockingham Community
College Campus in the N. Jerry Owens Human Services Building.
Seniors enjoy:
- aerobics
- craft classes
- rook
- computer training
- needlecrafts
- piano
- bingo
- day and overnight trips.
C.A.R. participants are encouraged to use the cosmetology lab,
gymnasium, walking track, the Gerald B. James Library, and the
multimedia center for self-directed computer training. They are
invited to attend the many cultural events that are scheduled on the
RCC campus.
The bi-monthly newsletter, The Senior Scoop, keeps the
seniors informed of C.A.R. events, course offerings, volunteer
opportunities, scheduled trips, and other articles of interest to
older adults.
