POSITION: JobsNOW Student Placement Coordinator

ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Community and Workforce Education Division

BEGINNING DATE: immediately CLASSIFICATION: Support Staff; Level 12

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, 12-month appointment
(This grant-funded position is dedicated 100% to the JobsNOW program and is funded through December 23, 2010.)

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master's degree in Student Development services (career development, job placement, counseling) or closely related area. Three years experience in counseling, job placement and student recruitment. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills. Excellent computer skills, including database, spreadsheet, and work processing applications. Must be able to travel and carry recruitment materials up to 50 pounds. Preferred: Relevant background in business/industry. Knowledge of current practices of community colleges as it relates to student recruitment programs, curriculum, job placement and program and staff development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with advising qualified students for RCC's JobsNOW program areas (Customer Relations Specialist; Law Enforcement; Nursing Assistant I; Phlebotomist; Warehouse Technician). Responsible for assisting students with necessary admission and placement testing steps (as needed) to conform with requirements for the JobsNOW program areas. Coordinate student recruitment and job placement efforts, as needed, with other College administrative, student development, and academic divisions.
Responsible for interpreting placement test scores and the registration of JobsNOW students. Establish relationships with local businesses and industries to keep them informed about the JobsNOW programs at the College and prospective students available for employment. Participate in extensive road travel for student recruiting and distributing brochures, schedules, and other material concerning JobsNOW programs at the College. Through personal contacts with appropriate business and industry employers, develop temporary, part-time, and full-time student job opportunities and internships for JobsNOW students and assist with placement of JobsNOW students into these positions. Host on-campus employer recruitment activities. Conduct job-search and retention skills workshops for students. Screen students to assess their skills, abilities, training, and refer qualified students to employers. Communicate JobsNOW placement opportunities to JobsNOW students and assist them in placement into positions. Seek invitations to and coordinate exhibits at appropriate industrial trade shows and other educational and employment fairs/events to promote the College's JobsNOW program. Develop networking with professional organizations and via specialized job listing services. Provide tracking and activity reports and other information as required and/or requested.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Requires Associate degree in business related field, a minimum of one year demonstrated experience in payroll and/or human resources and excellent computer skills and communication skills. Must possess the skill to handle information with high level of confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Under supervision of the Director of Human Resources will assist with all aspects of Human Resources and payroll. Responsibilities include all full-time and part-time administrative duties related to human resources, payroll and benefits.

POSITION: Senior Custodian

BEGINNING DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: Immediately

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time

CLASSIFICATION: Staff; Salary is commensurate with educational background and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform a variety of routine cleaning functions in assigned building(s) such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning windows, emptying trash containers, etc. Assist with unloading incoming supplies and equipment and deliver to appropriate areas. Maintain security of assigned keys; lock and unlock doors in accordance with schedule. Assist with setting up of tables, chairs and the preparation of facilities for meetings or special events. Participate in the removal of snow and ice from steps, walkways and parking lots.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma/GED required (or willing to complete GED during first year of employment). Must possess current NC Drivers License. Must take pre-employment drug test. Must be able to physically perform the basic functions of grasping, reaching, climbing, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting and be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

POSITION: Director Distance Learning

ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Office of Instruction

CLASSIFICATION: Staff

QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in teaching discipline or Master's degree in technology-related field w/18 graduate semester hours in a teaching discipline from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum two years of experience in support and/or use of Learning Managements Systems (LMS) (e.g. teaching online courses, online curriculum development). Three years of instructional technology related experience in higher-education setting. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint). Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills and problem solving skills. Ability to interact with students and faculty/staff in a helpful, patient and professional manner to solve problems. Ability to plan and evaluate technology-enhanced educational programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the development, organization, planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the College's Distance Learning program. Coordinate and serve as chair of the Distance Learning Committee. Maintains and distributes minutes of each meeting to Academic Deans, Director of Technology Support Services and the Vice President for Instruction and Vice President for Student Development. Review all Distance Learning request (online, hybrid, and enhance) and online course syllabi following the Distance Learning Course checklist and submits to Curriculum Committee for final approval. Engage in continuous professional development activities, including representing the college in associated statewide organizations. Administer approved policies, rules, and regulations assuring that all courses recommended for approval for Distance Learning meet the standards of RCC and SACS. Monitor Distance Learning courses and report student concerns to the Vice President for Instruction. Serve as a resource person to faculty and staff as they attempt to apply new technologies for the Distance Learning programs and services. Work cooperatively with the Director of Technology Support Services in the administration of LMS. Work cooperatively with the Director of Technology Support Services to ensure continuous operation of the hardware infrastructure supporting the Distance Learning program and security of college and student data. Provide professional development opportunities (technical training workshops) for faculty and staff as needed. Prepare and submit all Distance Education ISA reports for NCCCS.

Monitor professional information sources to determine trends and innovations that lend themselves to integration into the instructional program. Research, recommend, and develop DL instructional materials needed to teach the competencies prescribed in the approved curriculum by Rockingham Community College, the North Carolina Community College System, and other accrediting entities. Responsible for teaching one on-line course each semester. Develop and implement DL assessment materials and procedures to evaluate student learning and performance in Distance Learning coursework. Provide leadership for DL Program including selection of online learning platforms, online resources to support distance learning, and the format for offering distance learning courses. Participate in the development of online courses through the North Carolina Community College System Virtual Learning Community. Responsible for recruiting full and part-time faculty to facilitate online and hybrid courses and deliver video conferencing courses in coordination with Academic Deans. Responsible for the scheduling of courses and for the programming components associated with the North Carolina Information Highway to include articulation agreements with other institutions. In consultation with the Student Development Division, assure that students have adequate access to the range of services appropriate to support the programs/courses offered through Distance Learning, to include admissions, financial aid, academic advising, delivery of course materials, and counseling services. Review all advertising, recruitment, and admissions information to assure adequate and accurate representation of on-line services available to students enrolling in distance learning programs/courses. Monitor inquiries from prospective students and students enrolled in distance learning programs/courses to ensure that these students understand the technology and equipment necessary to succeed. Provide assistance and information for distance learning student follow-up reports and demographics as required by state or local policy and/or reports.

CLASSIFICATION: Faculty, 9 + 3

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Associate's degree in Electrical Electronics or Electronics Engineering or related Industrial Technology discipline from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum five (5) years experience in industrial systems to include electrical/electronics, industrial building/ maintenance technology, and/or facility and equipment maintenance experience. Knowledge and experience in installations and repairs of industrial machinery. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, schematics, blueprints and maintenance instructions. Repair and troubleshooting skills in the following trades: electrical, electronics, PLCs, instrumentation, Heating/Air, mechanical, and knowledge of construction trades is a plus. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills required and ability to collaboratively work as a team member. Ability to utilize different methods and mediums in delivering course material. Proven critical thinking, problem solving and judgment skills. Attention to detail and mental concentration essential. Familiarity with PC operations. Excellent time-management skills and ability to follow through with assignments.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Electronics or Electronics Engineering or related Industrial Technology discipline from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum three (3) years experience in industrial systems, electrical/electronics, industrial building/ maintenance technology, and/or facility and equipment maintenance experience. Community college teaching experience.

6. Assist in student recruitment, advising, and registration.
7. Post and maintain a minimum of 5 office hours weekly, for advising and academic counseling.
8. Mentor adjunct instructors as assigned.
9. Serve on college committees and participate in curriculum advisory meetings.
10. Requisition and maintain instructional supplies and textbooks, and equipment.
11. Participate in on-campus and off-campus activities including graduation.
12. Provide and evaluate instruction and instructional material as required.
13. Submit all college reports in an accurate timely fashion.
14. Attend college, faculty, and divisional meetings.

POSITION: Computer Information Technology Instructor

ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Business Technologies

BEGINNING DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: October 1, 2010

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time faculty

CLASSIFICATION: 9-month

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Master's degree in Information Systems or closely related discipline with 18 graduate hours in CIS from a regionally accredited institution. Knowledge of educational technology and on-line teaching delivery. Excellent computer skills, including database, spreadsheet and word processing applications. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Minimum of three years business experience in field. Minimum of two years teaching experience
Preferred: Network+, Security+, and A+ certification. Object oriented programming, C++, and web development experience. Community college teaching experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide instruction in Computer Information Technology and related courses; develop instructional and evaluation materials; advise and register students; serve on college committees; participate in appropriate college functions; and serve as resource person for the Business Technologies Division. ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Division of Health Sciences

SALARY CLASSIFICATION/RANGE: Commensurate with education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Hold a Bachelor's in Nursing Degree (BSN).
Hold a current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
Certified in CPR and have current Immunizations.
Have a minimum of two calendar years' prior full-time employment or the equivalency in clinical nursing practice as a Registered Nurse.
Have ability to teach in traditional and non-traditional settings.
Motivated; adaptable to change and to technology; versatile; flexible; team player.
Prefer Master's in Nursing Degree (MSN) and experience in teaching nursing students-preferably at community college level; must be willing to obtain MSN upon employment within specified time limit if BSN.
Experience in curriculum development; Strong clinical skills, and technology oriented.

(2) A minimum of three years demonstrated community college educational program management and supervisory experience in adult education, GED, or workforce training program. (3) Community college teaching experience. (4) Experience in writing and managing federal and state grants related to programs and services in community and workforce education. (5) Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills. (6) Knowledge of initiating and successfully working with advisory groups and community agencies. (7) Excellent computer skills, including database, spreadsheet and work processing applications. Candidates with graduate coursework in adult education and/or demonstrated knowledge of concepts, methods, and practices of operating a business are preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Under supervision of the Vice President for Instruction, provide direct support services to the program and services in the Division of Community and Workforce Education. Ensure the development of and management of budgeting, planning, coordination, and supervision of policies and procedures within Community and Workforce Education programs and services. Work in collaboration with other administrative personnel to insure quality programs and services.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
