Effective Teacher Training Begins August 29

Aug 3, 2017

Completing RCC’s Effective Teacher Training Course could lead to a new career as a substitute or guest teacher. This 4-week class is designed to give students the skills they need to work as a team with each school or classroom that they enter.

During the past school year, 27 RCC-trained guest teachers actively worked in Rockingham County Schools and 14 were listed as preferred substitute teachers.

By working in small groups as a team, participating in role play and shadowing activities, students will gain the confidence and skills needed to manage a classroom, recognize learning styles, communicate with teachers and principals, understand personality types, and get to know themselves better.

Effective Teacher Training is a certification class. Students must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or the equivalent.

Instructor Libby Detter explained, “I highly believe in guest teachers working as a team in every school and classroom they enter. One of my goals for students is to help them be ready to enter the classroom with

confidence.”

The next Effective Teacher Training course at RCC begins August 29. Classes will be held in October and November. Call 336-342-4261 for more information.

At RCC you can start local and go far.
