JOHN BARROW, HEAD COACH
EAGLES BASEBALL 2002-2003

John Barrow begins his third year at the helm of the RCC baseball program. He is the only baseball coach in RCC history. Barrow led the Eagles to a seventh place finish in Region X in 2001, their inaugural season.  Last season, the Eagles more than doubled their win total from the previous year and finished as Region X runners-up.

Barrow began his coaching career as an assistant at Appalachian State University during the 1997-98 season, where he was in charge of catchers, assisted in hitting instruction, and coached first base.  Under Barrow's tutelage, ASU's true freshman catcher garnered All-Southern Conference honors.

After one year at ASU, Barrow moved on to serve on the staff at Tulane University under highly regarded coach Rick Jones.  Barrow has also worked the baseball camp circuit that have included stops at Florida State, Auburn, Tulane, Virginia Commonwealth, Old Dominion, Appalachian State, Elon University, Mary Washington College, and Bridgewater College.

Before coming to RCC, Barrow spent two years coaching baseball and football at Morehead High School in Eden, NC. He also served as an English teacher.

Barrow signed an athletic grant-in-aid to play baseball at Elon College upon graduation from Ragsdale High School (Jamestown, NC) in 1992.  As a catcher, he earned two varsity letters at Elon College before transferring to Bridgewater College (VA)  where he finished his playing career and earned his Bachelor's Degree in English in 1997. He earned his Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration from Appalachian State University in 1998.

In addition to his coaching duties at RCC, Barrow also serves as the Assistant Director of Recruiting and Job Placement.
