Accounting Basics
ACC 7108
This online course focuses on the fundamentals of financial accounting concepts for students seeking a basic understanding of terminology and principles. Topics include the accounting cycle, journal entries, T-accounts, adjusting entries, and financial accounting statements. Upon completion, students should have a practical understanding of basic accounting principles, transactions, and operations. Prepayment of tuition is required.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Fundamentals
This course introduces students to ChatGPT and other generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools. Students will learn topics such as what generative AI is and how to use it, the differences between different AI programs such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard, how to use different AI tools, security and regulatory concerns, practical uses for AI, and the future of AI. In addition, students will learn how to incorporate and use AI tools in the workplace. This course is instructor-led and delivered on campus. Prepayment of tuition is required.

Basic MIG Welding
MEC 3138
This 8-week program introduces gas metal arc welding and flux core arc welding processes. Topics include equipment set up and fillet and grove weld with emphasis on application of GMAW and FCAW electrodes on steel plate, as well as basic welding measurement and print reading. Upon completion, students will have the knowledge base to seek employment as entry level MIG welders. This course also prepares students to continue into the RCC Welding Technology certificate and diploma programs, with possible articulation upon successful completion and approved articulation application process.

Bilingual Cosmetology
COS 3201
Bilingual Cosmetology provides English and Spanish-speaking students with hands-on training in a simulated salon environment. Course work includes instructions in all phases of professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skin care, nail care, multi-cultural practices, business/computer principles, product knowledge, and other selected topics. The program consists of three sessions. Sessions I and II prepare students for the State Board of Cosmetic Arts exam for an apprentice license (1,200 hours) and completion of Session III prepares students for a license (1,500 hours). A student must complete one session before moving onto the next session. There is a required orientation for all students to learn about textbooks, kits, uniforms, and the program schedule.
RCC also offers an associate degree, a diploma, and a certificate in Cosmetology.
In addition to tuition, cosmetology students are required to purchase text books and a Cosmetology Kit $1,300. Students must also purchase two sets of solid black or solid white scrub uniforms at an estimated cost of $35 each, and malpractice insurance at $32 per year.

Cabinetmaking
CAB 3100
Learn the fundamental techniques of cabinetmaking. Course topics include understanding the difference between production and custom cabinets; proper selection of woods, materials, tools and finishes; learning how to plan, blueprint and build a small cabinet; understanding cabinet installation; and understanding how to estimate building and labor construction costs.
Students will need: Safety glasses, hearing protection, N95 mask, measuring tape, pencil, folding rule (instructor will specify what type of folding rule during the first class – do not purchase this ahead of time).
Students must wear closed toe shoes. Pants must fit snugly at the waist and properly throughout, because loose-fitting pants or shirts can catch in the machinery and cause serious injury. While operating machinery, never wear long sleeves that fit loosely or do not button at the wrist. Long hair must be tied back into a bun at all times to prevent getting caught in machinery. The instructional space is comfortable but not heated or air-conditioned, so students should dress accordingly.
Student projects and project sizes will be determined during the first class and students will purchase materials after that.
Safety is fundamental and will be discussed at length during the first class. Failure to comply with shop rules will result in removal from the class.

Cardiovascular Technician
ICV 3111
This program is designed and approved to prepare the student to become a certified EKG (ECG) and Technician/Monitor. Topics include: Anatomy and Physiology of the heart, principles of EKG, dysrhythmia recognition of sinus, junctional/atrial rhythms, heart blocks and bundle branches and ventricular ectopy rhythms. Skills include operating EKG equipment, running and mounting strips, reading and interpreting 22 types of cardiac lead tracing produced from 12 and five lead monitors. Students will automatically be enrolled in a required 4-hour Technology Awareness course. Upon completion, students will be eligible to apply for the Certified EKG Technician (CET) exam with the National Health Career Association.

Carpentry: Core Skills
CAR-3108
This course provides instruction related to the core skills used by carpenters in residential and commercial settings. Topics include safety, hand/power tool use, site preparation, measurement and layout, footings and foundations, construction framing, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to construct, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures made of wood, such as concrete forms; building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters; wood stairways, window and door frames, and hardwood floors. Central Sterile Processing
This program introduces the primary responsibilities of a central sterile technician. The course includes practical applications of learned concepts and procedures. Topics include preparation, storage, distribution of instruments, supplies and equipment, quality assurance and inventory management. Students will automatically be enrolled in a required 4-hour Technology Awareness course prior to the start of the course. Upon completion, students should be able to apply the principles of sterilization/ disinfection in the workplace as well as the principles of distribution of instruments/supplies/equipment. Upon completion, students will be eligible to apply for the National Institute for Certification of Healthcare Sterile Processing and Distribution Personnel Examination (CBSPD).

Certified Guest Service Professional

This course provides and overview of the lodging industry, followed by an in-depth look at common line-level positions within hotels. Core topics will focus on positions in the rooms and food and beverage divisions of a lodging operation, including front desk, reservations, housekeeping, bell services, restaurant service, banquet setup, and property management systems utilized in most major hotel operations. Guest service professionalism and career exploration are additional components of this program. Upon completion, students will have the knowledge base to sit for the Certified Guest Service Professional certification from the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute.

This course is designed to introduce students to aspects of developing a computer program. Students will analyze problems, create pseudo code and flow charts, and ultimately create a functioning program to solve those problems. Students will learn to correct and execute programs, apply effective programming techniques to prepare business reports, and create and maintain data files. Students do not need a strong technical or math background to succeed in this course. Coursework will be delivered online and class will meet virtually one night. CPR (American Heart Association-Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider Course)

Learn how to recognize an emergency, care for conscious and unconscious choking victims, recognize signs of a heart attack, rescue breathing and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This course also introduces automated external defibrillation and is approved by American Heart Association. When the course is completed, students receive an AHA/BLS recognition card that is valid for 2 years. No fee exemptions. Prepayment and Pre- registration is required no later than one business week prior to class. AHA Cards are now eCards, you must have an email address to access your card. The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of the materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.
