Develop the skills needed to work with clay. This 48-hour course will provide students with the skills and techniques to make functional and decorative objects out of clay. Using the potter’s wheel and various hand-building techniques, students take their designs from clay to glazed and fired ceramic pieces. The class also covers the essentials of glazing and the basic operation of both electric and gas kilns. Individual instruction is supplemented with demonstrations. Beginners in clay will leave with a solid foundation and understanding of the pottery studio and more advanced makers will be able to focus and further develop their ideas.
