Any adult who lives in North Carolina or whose most recent job was in North Carolina is welcome to connect with Career Development Services (HRD). Our goal is to help individuals be prepared for the job market. Below are some of the many classes available through our program.

Employability Lab

This one-stop-shop offers a way for job seekers to receive help with resumes, job searches, completing online job applications, cover letters, interview skills, and much more. Learn the necessary skills to successfully enter and remain in the workforce. Meet virtually (Zoom Platform) or in person by appointment.

Basic Computer Technology Awareness

Learn introductory skills in computer use, Microsoft Office, email, keyboarding, internet use, and other tasks for workplace effectiveness.

A+ on your next Interview: Essential Skills

Learn how to “Sell Yourself in a job interview in 45 Seconds or Less”! Know your skills. Present and sell yourself with confidence. You are a unique product! Gain insights into branding yourself. Who knows you better than you?

Working Smart

This course is designed for individuals with barriers to employment, providing them with opportunities to learn critical, work-related interpersonal skills and insights. Soft skills breakdown these barriers and include:

  • Conflict Resolution
  • Problem Solving/Critical Thinking

National Career Readiness Certification – Online Class

Assess and build your skills in Workplace Documents (reading), Applied Math, and Graphic Literacy (comprehending graphs, maps, and data) through this self-paced program with individual guidance available. Update your skills and take the three-part test for this national certification recognized by 90% of Rockingham County Employers and required by various industries.

Financial Literacy – “Money Smart”

Learn money management to rebuild your credit, eliminate unnecessary spending, develop a wage improvement plan, and save money for the future.

Human Services Exploration: DSS Caseworker

Learn the skills and strategies needed for the role of Income Maintenance Caseworker within Department of Social Services agencies. This is a two-part series of classes offered through the NC Fast program. Both Phase 1 and 2 must successfully be completed to gain certification. Students are required to earn their National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC) as part of the course requirements.
