Earn college credits in short sessions

Dec 15, 2022

Many classes are offered in short 8-week sessions at Rockingham Community College this spring, making it easier for busy students to earn the credits they need.

The first 8-week session runs Jan. 9-March 6, and the second session runs March 7-May 5, which enables students to earn more credits in one semester by taking back-to-back short sessions.

The classes cover the same content as the full-semester classes, just in a shorter timeframe. Classes vary from online, on campus, or a little of both.

First-session offerings include classes in business, cosmetology, medical terminology, respiratory therapy, surgical technology, and welding.

Second-session offerings include computer, communications, cosmetology, early childhood education, English, history, music, basketball, and welding.

Late Start Courses

For students trying to stay on track this spring, there is a collection of courses that do not start until Jan. 24. These classes are 14 weeks, ending with the regular semester on May 5. Click here for the schedule.

Subjects include English, welding, accounting, business, computers, economics, medical terminology, web design, internet marketing and analytics, sociology, psychology, communications, music, history, cosmetology, and basketball.

There are also several late-start classes for high school students enrolled in RCC’s Career and College Promise program, through which they earn free college credits. Those include criminal justice, English, math, and Spanish.

Summer Term

For the summer term, RCC is launching back-to-back 4-week sessions.

The first session runs May 24-June 20, and includes art appreciation, computers, criminal justice, English, personal health and wellness, history, sociology, and college transfer success. All are online except English, which also meets on campus.

The second session runs June 21-July 17, and is fully online, offering art appreciation, business, criminal justice, communications, history, music, and college transfer success.
