Income Maintenance Caseworker Training Begins Soon

Aug 2, 2018

If you are interested in a new career, enroll in the NC Fast training to become an Income Maintenance Caseworker with the Department of Social Services in any county in North Carolina.

Brianna Cain was employed as a nurse’s aide, heard about the course on social media. She applied for a scholarship from the RCC Foundation and received the funds needed to enroll. As a new mom, Brianna was looking for a career that offered a predictable work schedule and good benefits. After completing the program, Cain was hired by the Rockingham County Department of Social Services.

“The class was interesting and I enjoyed connecting examples with real-world intake and evaluation process,” said Cain. “The atmosphere at my job is positive and everyone is helpful.”

NC Fast Part 1 is offered in the evening. Choose from two options: August 14 – October 2, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. or August 13 – September 22, Mondays, 6:00-9:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

NC Fast Part 2 begins later in the fall. Choose from two options: October 4 – December 4, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. or September 24 – November 3, Mondays, 6:00-9:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

NC FAST training prepares a person for a position as an Income Maintenance Caseworker. Students learn how to use the NC FAST software program that determines a community member’s qualification ore re-qualification for public assistance. Students also learn the soft skills necessary to be successful and feel confident working with the public.

Due to the expected retirement of many Department of Social Service employees across the state, a partnership was formed with the North Carolina Community College System to offer the NC FAST training program in order to meet the future employment needs. RCC was one of the first community colleges to offer the training.
