Frequently Asked Questions

New Students Login Information and How to Change Password

Students will not be able to access their RCC accounts (Email, Moodle, Self-Service (Student Planning), Printing and Library Resources, if they have not setup their profile and changed your password. Follow the instructions below to on how to reset your password. Student passwords will expire every 90 days.

Listed below are the steps students must follow to enroll/reset their passwords

  1. Go to www.rockinghamcc.edu
  2. Click on “MyRCCLogin”
  3. Click “Password Reset”
  4. Click “Enroll” to setup your profile.

Student username/login ID is comprised of Last Name, First Initial, Last Four Digits of your Student ID Number.

For example, John Doe with an ID number of 1234567 would have a Login ID of: doej4567. Your Student ID number is located on your new student ID card.

Initial passwords are comprised of the first three letters of your birth month, followed by the day and the year you were born.

For example: If your birthday is July 4, 1976 your initial password would be Jul041976 (please note that the first letter of the month is uppercase).

Users must answer four security questions. You can select from pre-selected questions or you may add your own custom questions for additional security. Please provide answers to the questions. These questions and answers will be used to authenticate you when resetting or unlocking your account so be sure that only you know the answers. The answers to each question must be at least five characters in length.

When you have completed setting up your profile, please click “Reset Password” located in the middle of the page. Once you have changed your password you can close the browser window.

Setting up Office 365 on Your Phone

  • Download the “Outlook” app by going to your App or Play store
  • In the search box in your App or Play store, type “Microsoft Outlook”
  • Click “Install” (this may take a few minutes depending on internet speed)
  • Click “Open” to setup your account
  • If it is your first time using the Outlook App, enter your full RCC email address 
  • Click “Continue” or “Add Account”
  • Click “Get Started”
  • You will be re-directed to the RCC login page 
  • Enter your username and password
  • Click “Skip”
  • Click “Skip”
  • Your account is now ready to access.
  • **If not your first time using Outlook, please follow the instructions below to setup your account:
  • Open “Menu”
  • Click “Settings”
  • Click “Add Account”
  • Click “Add Email Account”

Instructions for Installing Office 2019

  • Login to your RCC email
  • Click on your username located in the upper right corner of the screen
  • Click “My Account”, you will be directed to the install page
  • Click “Install Office”
  • The installation will include the latest version of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Skype for Business and OneDrive for Business.
  • You are allowed to install the software on five (5) different computers.
  • You can Review System Requirements to make sure that your computer will run the software.
  • After reviewing, click Install
  • The setup process will begin.
  • A Welcome to your new office screen will appear.
  • Click Next
  • The next screen is First things First
  • Check either of the following:
    • Send us information to help improve Office
    • No thanks (recommended)
  • Click Accept
  • Click Next
  • Select How you would like your office to look?(No Background, circuit, colors, etc)
  • Click Next
  • The next screen is “We’re getting things ready” You can decide to:
    • Take a look
    • No thanks (recommended)
  • The installing will begin. Depending on your Internet speed this process can take 3 – 15 minutes.
  • Click All Done once installation is complete.

Free Access to Microsoft Office

Students using Office 365 will have the option of using either the web applications of Office (in the cloud) or install a full version of Office 2016 on their home computer.

The web applications will allow students to open, edit, and create documents anywhere at any time wherever you have internet access with limited features.

The full version of Office 2016 will allow students to open, edit and create documents on their computers will all of the features. The full Office on your PC and Mac are available for offline use. Students are allowed to run Office on up to five machines.
