Covid-19 Information

Home / About RCC / Covid-19 Information

The College is open and operating, with most services available online, by phone, or by video conferencing. Those needing services are encouraged to call or email first because the College is adhering to social distancing guidelines.

Rockingham Community College is coordinating with local health and emergency management officials, as well as the N.C. Community College System office, to monitor and respond to the coronavirus (COVID-19) to protect the health and well-being of our campus community. A limited number of employees are working on campus, while the rest continue to serve students from off-site locations.

The last day of face-to-face instruction was March 10, as students and faculty were on Spring Break March 11-13. When the governor on March 14 mandated the closure of all K-12 public schools in the state, RCC extended Spring Break for students and entire week, to give faculty uninterrupted time to prepare to move all instruction online on March 23. Summer courses will be offered online, and administrators and staff are in continuous discussions about how to best serve students during these uncertain times.

In the meantime, cleaning efforts across campus have increased, a handful of computer labs and the library are open to current students only, the spring semester continues, and summer registration is underway.

Please take precautions with the health of yourselves and those around you. Symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, cough and shortness of breath. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure.

If you think you may have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop symptoms, you may need to seek medical attention. Before going to a health care provider, clinic, hospital or emergency room, call ahead to describe your symptoms and how you may have been exposed to the virus. In the event of an emergency call 911.

The N.C. Division of Public Health has established a Coronavirus Helpline, and is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Call 1-866-462-3821.
