Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Technology (D35100)
Diploma
The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Technology curriculum provides the basic knowledge to develop skills necessary to work with residential and light commercial systems.
Topics include mechanical refrigeration, heating and cooling theory, electricity, controls, and safety.
The diploma program covers air conditioning, furnaces, heat pumps, tools, and instruments. Diploma graduates should be able to assist in the startup, preventive maintenance, service, repair, and/or installation of residential and light commercial systems.
Students enrolling in this program must purchase student accident insurance.

Employment Competencies
1. Apply basic heating and cooling principals to the maintenance of residential and light commercial HVAC systems
2. Assist in installation of residential and light commercial HVAC systems
3. Apply EPA 608 refrigerant certification rules and regulations
4. Use basic HVAC specific tools and gauges
