Cake Decorating

In this Cake Decorating class, students learn to design and decorate, seasonal, birthday, and every day cakes, make frosting, and use different cake decorating tips. Students will design a cake to take home. Supplies Extra. The class is held at Elree’s Sweet Shoppe, 323 E. Meadow Road #B, Eden.

Ceramic Design

Develop the skills you need to work with clay. This 96-hour course will provide students with the skills and techniques they need to make functional and decorative objects out of clay. Using the potter’s wheel and various hand-building techniques, students take their designs from clay to glazed and fired ceramic pieces. The class also covers the essentials of ceramic glazes and the operation of both electric and gas kilns. Individual instruction is supplemented with daily demonstrations, slide talks, handouts and videos. Beginners in clay will leave with a solid foundation and understanding of the pottery studio and more advanced makers will be able to focus in and further develop their ideas. Clay, glaze materials and firings will be provided.

Drawing from A to Z

Students will use handouts and follow instructor’s demonstrations to complete drawings in a sketch book. Several subjects and sketches will be completed. This is a class for anyone wanting to draw or improve their skills will enjoy the class. Supplies needed: spiral bound sketchbook, drawing pencils, eraser, table cover, soft brush for wiping away eraser residue, small pencil trimmer.

Holiday Painting

This course is highly anticipated every year. Each week students create a holiday and decorative small painting to give away or keep. Special instruction on glass painting and other specialty painting is also taught. Student supply list: Table cover, paper towels, paper plates, water container, basic acrylic colors, basic brushes, at least eight small canvases (any small size you’d like).

Painting a Special Effect Floral

In this class the students will learn how to paint for a specific visual impact. The final floral image will appear 3-D. Beginning or advanced students will enjoy the class. Supplies needed: basic acrylic paint colors, brushes, 16 x 20 canvas, paper plates, towels, water container, and table cover.

Pottery Making

Learn how to design and make pottery using the potter’s wheel and various hand-building techniques. This 48-hour course is open to all levels and will focus on individual instruction. Students will take their ideas through the entire process – from clay processing to glazing and, finally, the kiln. Daily demonstrations will be supplemented with handouts, slide-talks and videos. Beginners in clay will leave with a solid foundation and understanding of working in a cooperative pottery studio and more advanced makers will be able to focus in and further develop their ideas. Clay, glaze materials and firings will be provided.
