Manual Machining Fundamentals Certificate (C50210MM)

Certificate

This certificate program is designed to provide individuals with an introduction to basic machining principles and technical skills. Upon successful completion of all courses in this pathway, the student will be prepared with the skills to gain entry level manufacturing employment. Courses within the certificate may be applied toward the Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer-Integrated Machining.

All students in the Computer Integrated Machining program are expected to meet certain technical standards which are essential for the successful completion of all phases of the program, and which reflect industry requirements and standards. To verify the student’s ability to perform these essential functions, students may be required to demonstrate the technical standards below.

Students enrolling in the program must purchase student accident insurance.

Employment Outlook

Employment of machinists is projected to grow 4% from 2019 to 2029, about as fast as the average for all occupations. With improvements in technologies, such as computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, autoloaders, high-speed machining, and lights-out manufacturing, machinists will still be required to set up, monitor, and maintain these systems.
