Minimum Admissions Requirements
Complete the RCC Admissions ProcessComplete the specific Associate Degree Nursing admissions requirements:
- Completed Biology 168 and 169 with a grade of “C” or higher. (Applicants may be enrolled in BIO 169 in the Spring 2021 semester.)
- Completed CHM 131 (with lab) or CHM 151 with a grade of “C” or higher. (Applicants may be enrolled in CHM 131 /A or higher in the Spring 2021 semester.)
- Completed ENG 111 with a grade of “C” or higher. (Applicant may be enrolled in ENG 111 in the Spring 2021 semester.)
- Have a 2.8 GPA or higher from all completed pre-requisite and nursing general education courses. GPA calculation includes BIO 168, BIO 169, CHM 131 /A, and any completed nursing general education courses ( ENG 111, ENG 112, PSY 150, PSY 241, and humanities elective).
- Be in Satisfactory Academic Standing with Rockingham Community College (2.0 or higher RCC cumulative GPA).
- Attend a mandatory Nursing Information Session in the 2020/2021 academic year.
- Hold current certification in Adult and Child CPR issued by the American Heart Association.
- Complete the TEAS exam with a minimum score of 65%. Scores are valid for 24 months (2 years) from time of application.
- Essay- One page, double spaced, typed statement responding to the following questions: What makes you a strong candidate for the ADN program at Rockingham Community College? What is the biggest challenge you will face in the ADN program?
Submit the Candidate Review Form online with the required documentation.
Schedule a Candidate Review Appointment to review and finalize your application. Meetings will take place on Zoom. You will receive the scheduling link after submitting the Candidate Review Form.
Attend your Candidate Review Appointment on Zoom to review your application materials. After all components of your application are confirmed, the Assistant Director of Enrollment Services will submit your application to the RCC Nursing Department.
Upon completing the all admission requirements, submit the ADN Candidate Review Form and schedule your appointment with the Assistant Director of Enrollment Services.
Candidate Review Appointments will take place between January 19, 2021 and February 26, 2021 at 3pm.

TEAS Testing Information
The TEAS can be taken in the RCC Testing Center, through an ATI remote proctor, or at a PSI testing facility. Registration for all TEAS sessions is through the ATI website.

- Please do not contact RCC to schedule or re-schedule your test. Any issues regarding the scheduling of your TEAS test is handled through ATI Testing.
- An ATI TEAS Study Manual and online practice test are offered through ATI study material website.
- Arrive at least 30 minutes early. Arrivals after the posted start time will not be allowed to enter the testing room – NO EXCEPTIONS! If you have to reschedule your test, you should arrange to do so through ATI, not RCC. Refunds and rescheduling are approved at the discretion of ATI.
- A government-issued photo ID is requried the day of the test. The name on your ID must match the name on your ATI account.
- Cost: $82.00 – paid to ATI Testing upon registering (subject to change at discretion of ATI)

- Must have current unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in North Carolina.
- Must have graduated from an approved Practical Nurse Education Program.
- Complete National Acceleration Challenge Examination (NACE) with a score of 70% or higher. Scores are valid for 24 months (2 years) from date of application.
- Attend a mandatory Nursing Information Session in the 2020-21 academic year.

Nursing Acceleration Challenge Examination (NACE) Information (2020-2021)
The NACE is an online exam proctored by a remote proctoring service, Proctorio.
Candidates can complete the test on a personal computer or by appointment in the RCC Testing Center.
NACE TESTING OVERVIEW
- Create an account in the NLN portal.
- Purchase the NACE test in the NLN portal. You will have a 30 day window to take the exam. Purchase your test no more than 30 days before you plan to take the exam.
- Review the NACE Device Set-up Instructions. Once purchasing the test, you can take the exam at any point through the NLN remote proctoring system.

TAKING THE NACE
The NACE is taken in the NLN portal. Before taking the exam, review the system requirements and testing information in the NACE Device Set-up and Test Instructions guide. Candidates testing on a personal computer should confirm the system requirements.
NACE scores are available within four hours of testing. Follow the NACE Score Reporting Guide to access a PDF of your score report.

IMPORTANT NACE INFORMATION
- NACE Foundations of Nursing is an online exam proctored through the virtual proctoring system, Proctorio. All testers must use Chrome and the Proctorio plugin.
- The exam can be taken on a personal computer that meets the minimum technology requirements .
- A government-issued photo ID is requried for the online proctoring service. The name on your ID must match the name on your NLN account.
- Cost: $80 – paid to National League for Nursing (NLN) when purchasing the exam.
- Candidates who will need accommodations for testing should contact Laura Jennings (jenningsl3489@rockinghamcc.edu) prior to purchasing the test.
- The NACE is a four-hour exam consiting of 200 items. The test items are multiple choice and alternative item format used in the NCLEX.
- Students are not allowed to leave the testing frame. Breaks are not allowed.
- The NACE Foundations of Nursing includes content related to the basic physiological and psychosocial needs of individuals. See the NLN NACE Series Student Bulletin for a content outline.
- Test-takers are encouraged to study and prepare for the exam using a NCLEX test preparation resource.
- The James Library has a limited supply of NACE preparation books available for review. RCC students must have their student ID to check out books. Prospective RCC students can apply for a library card with a photo ID. The review books can be requested at the circulation desk and are available for a 7-day checkout period.

GPA is calculated using completed general education courses including BIO 168, BIO 169, CHM 131 /A, ENG 111, ENG 112, PSY 150, and a humanities elective. The following Excel spreadsheet can be used to calculate GPA using final grades from these courses. Course letter grade (A, B, C) can be entered into the yellow column. GPA is automatically calculated in the labeled green cell. Students may include an optional math elective ( MAT 143, MAT 152, or MAT 171 ).

Admission Information
- Read the Admissions Information completely and complete the Minimum Admissions Requirements.
- Attend a Surgical Technology Information Session (optional, but strongly encouraged)
- Complete the Surgical Technology Candidate Review Form online and uploaded required documentation. The Candidate Review Form will open December 17, 2020.
- Schedule your Candidate Review Appointment (link provided upon submission of the Candidate Review Form).
- Attend your Candidate Review Appointment to review and finalize your application. Meetings will take place on Zoom. The deadline to complete the application process is Thursday, April 15, 2021.
The Surgical Technology application process must be complete by Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 5pm.
Candidate Review Appointments will take place between January 19, 2021 and April 15, 2021.

Surgical Technology Candidate Review Form must be submitted and the Candidate Review Appointment complete by the application deadline, 5:00pm on April 15, 2021. We will begin accepting Candidate Review Forms on December 17, 2020.
Applicants must attend a Candidate Review Appointment on Zoom to review and finalize their application. Candidate Review Appointments will take place between January 19, 2021 and April 15, 2021. The link to schedule an appointment will be provided upon submission of the Candidate Review Form.

Minimum Admissions Requirements
Complete the RCC Admissions ProcessComplete the specific Surgical Technology admissions requirements:
- Candidate is eligible to take MAT 143 with or without a co-requisite.
- Candidate has completed ENG 111 and MED 120 with a grade of “C” or higher (may be enrolled in 2021 Spring semester).
- Candidate has a 2.5 GPA or higher from all surgical technology general education courses. GPA calculation includes any of the following completed courses: BIO 163, BIO 175, MED 120, PSY 150, ENG 111, ENG 114, BUS 137, CIS 110, mathematics elective, and humanities/fine arts elective.
- Candidate is in Satisfactory Academic Standing with Rockingham Community College (RCC cumulative GPA is 2.0 or higher).
- Essay: One page, double-spaced typed statement responding to the following questions: What makes you a strong candidate for the RCC Surgical Technology program? What is the biggest challenge you will face in the program?
Submit your Surgical Technology Candidate Review Form and any supporting documents (see Points and Selection guide). New review procedures use a selection system based on the awarding of points for several category areas. Applicants with the highest number of points who also meet all admissions criteria are reviewed first. The Candidate Review Form will open on December 17, 2020.
Schedule a Candidate Review Appointment upon submission of your Candidate Review Form. The meeting will take place on Zoom. You will receive the scheduling link in the email confirming the submission of your Candidate Review Form. The deadline to apply to the the Fall 2021 Surgical Technology program is April 15, 2021 at 5pm. Completed applications will be submitted to the Surgical Technology Therapy program after the Candidate Review Appointment.

Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) who have previously earned a diploma in Surgical Technology are encouraged to apply for the Surgical Technology Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree program.
