Aiken Appointed Interim President of Rockingham Community College

Jul 21, 2014

Dr. William C. Aiken, of Clinton, has been appointed by the NC State Board of Community Colleges to serve as the interim president of Rockingham Community College. The college’s Board of Trustees began their search for an interim last month when Dr. Michael S. Helmick announced his resignation from the position.

Aiken previously served with distinction as president of Sampson Community College from 2000 to 2012. He most recently served as interim president at Haywood Community College from 2012-2013.

An interview team comprised of four trustees recommended Dr. Aiken as the “best fit” for the college based on his extensive educational experience, his excellent credentials, and his leadership style. The RCC Board of Trustees met on July 15 and voted unanimously to approve Dr. Aiken’s selection.

He will begin his service to RCC on Monday, July 28, and will continue until a new president is selected.
