Wentworth— RCC Baseball splits opening weekend vs. Guilford College. Game one was a final of 2-0. Eagles were only able to get one hit. Pitching was dominant for both sides. Eagles pitching staff gave up two earned runs in game one. Starting Pitcher Walker Joyce takes tough lost after throwing 3 2/3 Innings. Sophomores Dalton Binkley and Chase Revier finished up the game not allowing another run. Gavin Taylor was the lone hit for the Eagles offensive day in Game 1.
Game 2 the Eagles finished with the win final score 2-1. Another game dominated by pitching for both sides. Sophomore Hunter Lowery threw three scoreless frames, Dominic Colosimo collected the win with 2 innings pitched and allowing one run. Garrett Ward closed it out in the final inning gaining his first save of the year. Offense was lead by Bradley Phillips who had two hits. Zack Mcginnis stole third and scored on a bad throw to tie the game up. Luke Tipton scored on a pass ball to take the lead.
The Eagles will play a doubleheader on Friday at 1:00 pm for the home opener to take on friendly rival Guilford Technical Community College.
