Rockingham Community College is offering several continuing education courses that start in the next few weeks:

Dialysis Technology: 2-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 at RCC, then Feb. 5-March 27 online. Lecture, lab, and clinical activities teach the theoretical, technical, and clinical skills needed to maintain equipment and provide patient care to those being treated for chronic renal diseases. Course prepares students for employment as a dialysis technician in hospitals, renal dialysis facilities, and clinics. After one year of work experience, individuals may be eligible to sit for national certification as a Clinical Hemodialysis Technician. Cost: $192, but ask about the Eagle Train & Gain Scholarship.

Computer Basics: 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 20-March 12, or 9 a.m.-noon Fridays, March 8-29, RCC. Develop computer skills essential for success in today’s technology-driven workplace. Course covers the basic functions of Microsoft Word and Excel, emailing, internet navigation, file organization, uploads and downloads, and resources for keyboarding skills. Cost: $70, but is waived for most students.

Google Project Management: Feb. 8-June 13, online. Learn the advanced concepts, tools, templates, and artifacts used to manage projects from initiation to completion using Google resources through Agile development. Emphasis is placed on foundational and advanced project management methods. Upon completion, students should be able to manage and run projects and programs from initiation to completion using a variety of resources and leadership skills to support organizational goals and business processes. Cost: $185, but ask about the Eagle Train and Gain Scholarship.

Google UX (User Experience) Design: Feb. 8-July 11, online. Get started in the fast-growing field of user experience (UX) design with a professional certificate developed by Google. Learn the foundations of UX design, including empathizing with users, building wireframes and prototypes, and conducting research to test your designs. Prepare for entry-level roles in UX design and obtain the knowledge necessary to prepare for the Google UX Design Certificate. Cost: $185, but ask about the Eagle Train and Gain Scholarship.

CPR: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9 or March 8, or Saturday, Feb. 24 or March 23, RCC. Learn to recognize an emergency or signs of heart attack, care for choking victims, rescue breathing and CPR. Introduces defibrillator. Course completion yields an American Heart Association/Basic Life Support recognition card valid for two years. Cost: $55. Info: 336-342-4261, ext. 2602.

Notary: 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10 or March 9, RCC. Learn the qualifications of the notary public office and requirements for attestation, fees, general powers and limitations, certifications, oaths, affirmations and affidavits. Purchase of Notary manual is required. Cost: $70.

eNotary: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, RCC. This 4-hour course prepares a currently commissioned North Carolina Notary Public to take the examination to become qualified to notarize documents electronically. Personal appearance by the principal is still required in electronic notarization. Cost: $70.

First Aid: 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, RCC. Learn critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until EMS arrives. Learn how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and more. Earn a 2-year American Heart Association First Aid card. Cost: $35. Info: 336-342-4261 ext. 2602.

Resume Writing and Interviews: 9 a.m.-noon Fridays, March 1 and 8, RCC. Students are led through the process of writing a resume, understanding how to revise resumes and use cover letters, as well as how to organize a job search, use resources to create leads, and interview with confidence. Cost: $70, but class fees are waived for most students.

Exploring Ceramics 1-4 p.m. or 5-8 p.m. Mondays, March 11-April 29, or Wednesdays, March 13-May 1, RCC. Develop the skills needed to work with clay. Learn the techniques to make functional and decorative objects, using a potter’s wheel and hand-building techniques. All skill levels welcome. Clay, glaze materials and firings provided. Cost: $123.

Painting and Underwater Seascape: 1-4 p.m. Mondays, March 13-May 1, RCC. Paint an underwater scene of the creatures and beauty of the ocean. Supplies needed: Canvas, basic acrylic paint colors, basic brushes, water container, paper towels, paper plates, and table cover. Cost: $73.

Windows 11 Fundamentals: 3-5 p.m. Thursdays, March 14-April 4, RCC. Get started with the Windows 11 operating system. Topics include customizing settings, managing files and folders, using and downloading apps, installing devices, completing a system back up, and more. Cost: $74.
