This online course focuses on the fundamentals of financial accounting concepts for students seeking a basic understanding of terminology and principles. Topics include the accounting cycle, journal entries, T-accounts, adjusting entries, and financial accounting statements. Upon completion, students should have a practical understanding of basic accounting principles, transactions, and operations. Prepayment of tuition is required.

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Bootcamp

MED 7108

This course is designed to prepare students for the CPC certification exam. The course will be delivered online and will meet virtually one night a week. Registration fees do not include certification exam fees. Prepayment of tuition and purchase of course materials (approx. $200) are required.

CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst

CCT 7000

This program prepares students to evaluate the weaknesses of traditional and wireless networks for the purpose of incident response, reconstruction, and investigative techniques. This course is for professionals looking to perform data analysis and interpret the results, use threat detection tools, and protect applications and systems within an organization. Skills covered include threat and vulnerability management, security architecture, and cyber-incident response. In addition, students will prepare for the CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) exam. Intermediate information technology skill level is recommended. Class will meet face-to-face one night per week in the Cybersecurity Lab on campus and a portion of coursework will be delivered online. Prepayment of tuition, and purchase of the course materials (approx. $125) are required. Registration fees do not include CompTIA CySA+ certification exam fees.

Computer Programming

CSC 3110

Learn aspects of developing a computer program. Analyze problems, create pseudocode and flow charts, and ultimately create a functioning program to solve those problems. Students learn to correct and execute programs, apply effective programming techniques to prepare business reports, and create and maintain data files. Students do not need a strong technical or math background to succeed in this course. The course is delivered online and meets virtually one night per week. Tuition prepayment required.

Customer Service

MKT 7600

This online course stresses the importance of delivering quality customer service. Emphasis is placed on customer service from the company’s point of view as well as the customers. Students will study skills in communication, telephone etiquette, netiquette, time management, and problem-solving. Students will also learn how to anticipate customer needs and effectively handle customer relations. Tuition prepayment required.

Intermediate QuickBooks 2020

This course is designed to go beyond the basics. Students will learn how to utilize the more advanced features of the accounting software program, QuickBooks. This course is intended for those who have basic knowledge of QuickBooks and are looking to advance their skills as well as those who are needing a refresher course.

Notary Public

MLS 3874

Participants learn the requirements and qualifications of the notary public office. Requirements for attestation, fees, general powers and limitations, certifications, oaths, affirmations and affidavits are taught. NC Notaries must have a high school diploma or GED; must be at least 18 years old; read, write, and speak English; have no felony convictions; and successfully complete this approved notary course. Additional costs include: commission fee to Secretary of State, $50; swearing in at the courthouse, $10; textbook required for class, $28; notary seal, $20-$40 (approx. cost). Prepayment and Notary Book are required.

This online course introduces participants to the Zoom virtual meetings platform. Participants will learn topics such as Zoom account creation, various ways to join a meeting, microphone, etiquette tips, webcam control, screen sharing, recording meetings, and other advanced features of the platform.
